Training & Curriculum

Character Choice offers training and resources for parents and advocates of children to guide the spiritual and character formation of children and their families. These are available to churches, Christian ministries, schools (both public and private), and homeschools. Our resources include small and large group training, publications, media, and consulting services.

Overview of Training

The forming of children’s spirits into Christlikeness takes place as those who guide children allow God’s Holy Spirit to accomplish God’s formation work in them. The goal is to create experiences through relationships, play, reflection, storytelling, and example that creates the desire and opportunity for a child’s spirit to meet God’s Spirit.

Our training is designed to help participants (parents, grandparents, teachers, or any who influence children) to:

• discover how, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to guide the lifelong

journey of spiritual formation and transformational experiences in children.

• learn ways to make times and places where children meet God in home, school,

church or other communities.

Participants in the training often enjoy God’s transformation work in their life as they invite children into life with God.

The training consists of four forty-five-minute guided videos each with interactive pauses to practice the spiritual disciplines and concepts:

1. The Why and What of Spiritual Formation with Children

2. Spiritual Identity – Belonging – Life with God

3. Building Relationships with Children – Spiritual and Character Language and

Communication – Introduce the Spiritual Practice of Prayer

4. Understanding How Children Think and Learn – Introduce the Spiritual Practice

of Worship with Children

The training package includes:

• four videos

• a set of participant notes

• the book “Spiritual Disciplines for Children” for each participant

• “A Child’s Journey of Spiritual Formation” curriculum

Those who desire to purchase and present the training videos and materials will need to:

• identify a local Point of Contact person to communicate with Character Choice

• identify a local Training Facilitator (can be the same as the local Point of

Contact person) who will complete each of the four videos in advance of local

training in order to become familiar with the concepts, the pacing, and the

support materials

• have access to a local Internet connection and audio/visual equipment to

present the video training series

Children’s Curriculum

We have a children’s spiritual formation curriculum. The curriculum includes building relationships, Bible stories, Reflection Stations, and Resource Pages which help children’s spirits to meet the Spirit of God.
